Wow! What a story. Ruby Dixon really knows how to write. Once I started the book I just couldn't stop. I read every word. Sometimes going back and re-reading parts. Love this series and this book is one of the very best!

What happens when you aren't the petite human the sa-khui have come to expect? What if you have grown up taller than most of your peers and felt like a freak all your life? Kate's having a hard time blending in with the tribe. While the other 4 women brought with her to the Ice Planet have no problem cutting down clothing from the female sa-khui, she has to rely on the males for her hand-me-downs. Add to that an annoying flirty male who seems to delight in teasing her, and she decides the only way she'll survive is by depending on herself. A trip to an ancient ship to get a language download seems like a nice change. Until Kate and her crush separate from the others to take a shortcut over a glacier. Harrec is never serious, it seems, but appearances can be deceiving. He's decided Kate will be his. All he has to do is get her alone to convince her. Breaking his leg and fainting at the sight of his own blood weren't in his plan. Kate rises to the challenge, proving she's every bit as competent as any sa-khui hunter, male or female. How can Harrec not love her? She's everything he could possibly want in a mate. And he's determined to make her believe that...
This has got to be the funniest book by far. It was just too cute.

Kate is tall and strong. Harrec is funny and always joking and smiling even though he has bad memories from his childhood and from the earthquake.

Harrec is ALWAYS hitting on Kate, but his compliments are so horrible and over the top that she thinks he's making fun of her. Her height is a sore spot for her, and it didn't give her many opportunities.

When a whole group of the hunters and new humans to go get the language dump, Harrec dares Kate to take a shortcut with him across the glacier. He wants to entice her into his true in a cave but instead they call into a crevasse , lol. Kate crawls out and tears her tunic into a rope for Harrec. She fixes his leg and drags him to the cave.

She nurses him back to health while upkeeping the cave all by herself. When he's mending he helps her feel more comfortable around him and she helps him get over his blood fear. They leave the cave eventually, they get a snow kitten, and return. Poor Kate has fallen in love with silly Harrec and is sooooo afraid of resonating to someone else so they escape, only to resonate. Hehe. It was all look adorable.
So let me start by saying this is the first book in the series that I did not absolutely love. This author is really talented and has created a world that is believable and interesting. That being said this book did not do it for me. The beginning of the story was good where all the new woman and single guys take off together for the elders cave together. Then Harrec and Kate go off alone. Of course something bad happens and Kate is the only one who can save the day. Makes sense since these guys have been taking care of themselves for so long they have to have a woman to solve their problems. After she fixes the issue ( which I will not mention what it is since it is the only exciting thing in this story ) they then head over to a small cave by themselves. This portion of the book is about 75% which is all sex. It was very boring and I skipped all of it except I read a few paragraphs every 10 pages to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I didn't miss anything important.
I was very disappointed in this story. Kate was winney in her own head all the time about Harrec making fun of her over her size. So sad she was tall and thin with white blonde hair with perfect corkscrew curls down the middle of her back. Yeah I can see lots of people making fun of her in her life. Sure!!! I think the author could not find something to say for this character so she gave her something to wine about. The fact that she is perfect with great hair is not something people would have made fun of her for. There was so little in this story to keep my interest and the sex scenes were boring. Done over and over again. This book was the worst of all of them and I have reviewed them all and given five stars for every story up until now. I know she gets her mojo back since I have begun book 15 and it is so far awesome. This book though just blah!!!!!!
