It’s no secret that I am in love with Lexi Blake’s writing. She always manages to captivate me and tell fascinating stories. She often includes incredibly delicate topics in her novels, and Evidence of Desire was a prime example of that. She weaved the devastating threads of degenerative mental disorders into an already enthralling suspense novel, making it feel more poignant than so many other novels in the same genre. This may be one of my favorite Lexi Blake stories, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us in this world.

Evidence of Desire is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming, watching David’s fears manifested through his case was devastating. Watching Portia, Isla, and David’s mother show him that love wasn’t as fragile and mercurial as he’d previously experienced was EVERYTHING. I continually found myself completely consumed by both Isla and David’s love story, and Portia and Trey’s. Any time I can get my hands on a book that gives me a two-fer on romance, I’m in.

The suspense in Evidence of Desire was captivating and had me trying to piece together all the evidence until nearly the last second. All the clues were there, little nuggets of information that seemed unimportant at the time, but once everything came to light, I was able to finally take a step back and see the big picture Ms. Blake had been carefully weaving from the beginning. It was a wild and fascinating ride from beginning to end.

Evidence of Desire is the second book in Lexi Blake’s Courting Justice series. These books can be read as standalones. Characters from the first novel carry over into this book, and we also get a visit from some of our favorite Masters and Mercenaries, too. Evidence of Desire is written in limited third-person perspective, alternating between following Isla and David’s thoughts.

I cried when i finished this book. CTE needs to be highlighted to bring as much awareness as to what it its and the ways that some times we selfishly ignore the warning signs. On a lighter note I enjoyed Isla and David's journey. And what a tease on the shout out the Miles Dean new venture, has there been a book written for them yet? I waiting.
This book was a touching surprise. The tragic disease that I had never even heard of had me watching football games in a different light. Lexi made me love a character that has died before the story opens. So many nuances to this book that came together to make a touchdown and score the extra point.
It's hard to say any book by Lexi Blake is my favorite. Each story is unique to the characters and I love each of them for different reasons. However, this one is certainly at the top of my list. These characters were so real and their problems were things many people deal with. And only through love and family, can we get through them. The family we are born with and the family we choose.
David and Isla story. David Cormack, criminal lawyer played pro football as young man. Isla Shayne, lawyer and family friend to Trey Adams and his wife Portia. Trey played pro football around the same time David did and a little longer. Trey now suffers from CTE and is suspected of murdering his wife. Rollercoaster time to find the real killer.
I would rate it 3.5, but I have enjoyed many of the author's other stories so I gave it the benefit of the doubt.

David starts out over the top infatuated with Isla yet quickly dies the typical Male 180 of not being able to commit
When Isla is contacted by friend, client and retired football star Trey after he is a suspect in the murder of his wife, she knows that she needs help to defend him as this is not her area of law. She contacts successful defense attorney David to help with the case.

David is a former football star as well and accepting this case will bring up all the feelings and fears about why he retired from football to the forefront. If they are going to find out who is truly responsible for the murder, they will have to work together but the situation is further compounded by the heat that arises between them whenever they are in the same room.

Full of twists, suspense this story takes you on a wild ride. Isla is so much stronger than she appears, and she is not about to let David derail what they could have by his fears for the future and she manages to challenge him at every time. This a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for Noah’s story.
The second book in the Courting Justice series rewards the reader with getting to know David Cormack more intimately. As a former NFL player, David knows the business well and is called upon to represent famous football legend, Trey Adams, when he is accused of brutally murdering his wife. His personal lawyer and close family friend, Isla, must work closely with David to open doors that may offer information to save her boss. Of course, attraction and romance ensues. I loved that these characters are mature, professional and fully able to care for themselves and others. They are not broken and dependent upon each other to make themselves whole. They are whole and they are amazing! Love this book!
